impact gallery women's national exhibition 2010

Here's my submission for this year's Impact Gallery Women's National Exhibition. Thanks to Justin, framer extraordinaire and Dr. Pepper enthusiast from Avenue Art & Frame who solved the problem of seamlessly hanging a skate deck.
This handsome devil is a portrait of my friend Ivan, I know he looks indifferent in the painting but he is a talented sweet man who moved away to follow his dreams in NYC, miss you Ivan!

Last year's submission (a portrait of myself, somewhere chronicled in this very blog) won me second place so hopefully this year I will be let in and with luck place again. Come oooon first!

I really like this piece. It's got nice colors and I think the skateboard is a neat canvas. Good luck!

I am in love with that rich blue in the background. It's gorgeous. Its also really interesting how you've fit the portrait within the confines of the skate deck. Not to mention that a skate deck is unique surface for an oil painting. This is a great piece Sam, I hope your entry gets in. Good luck!
